Theology and Peace was formed in 2007 with the goal of developing an annual theological
conference grounded in the thought of Rene Girard. Known as mimetic anthropology
or mimetic theory, Girard's work enables a revolutionary understanding
of human violence and argues the critical role of the bible in distilling this
understanding in contemporary culture. A focused and sustained theological discussion
out of Girard's thought seemed long overdue. |

Registration now open! CLICK HERE. Includes details of our exciting speakers, and Early Bird Discount! (Ends April
30th.) A really important new emphasis in the conference will be its workshop component. Please consider proposing and leading a workshop! (For example, on Community, Prayer, Liturgy, Movies, Novels, Preaching, etc.) We want to continue to build the community-based, from-below character of Theology and Peace. Please send proposals to Tony Bartlett by December 31, 2011. The T&P board will confirm its selection for the program by January 20, 2012. Information to be included in Workshop Proposal: * Title and theme of workshop * What is your reason for interest in this area? Do you have some background experience in this area. * Do you have a direction in which you will be seeking to guide the discussion? What particular questions do you hope the workshop will begin to answer? * How do you plan to structure the workshop: i.e., short presentation (no longer than 15 minutes), general discussion, conversation in pairs? Etc. * Please remember that all the work of Theology and Peace is rooted in Mimetic Anthropology, and keep this in mind as you plan your workshop. |
